Lakeside Backyard Lounge with Pergola in California
About this project
This backyard sits beside a lake in California, so the layout was planned around the view rather than a pool. The house has a covered upper balcony, and we kept the ground level open so the lake stays visible from almost every seat.
The patio uses large concrete pavers with grass joints, which softens the hardscape and keeps the yard from feeling like one big slab. A raised wood deck with outdoor sofas and a fire table forms the main lounge, and a black louvred pergola on the far side covers an outdoor dining table next to a built-in grill counter.
We also produced a dusk version with lit deck edges and path lights. It shows how the different zones connect once the sun goes down over the water.
